Austin House, Norwich

Pentaco Construction carried out the refurbishment of the 1 st floor offices at Austin House, Norwich for pension fund managers Threadneedle on a design & build basis. The works included the extensive refurbishment of the office space inclusive of wc areas, amenity areas and core access areas of the building. The refurbished scheme also required structural remodeling to some core areas. The greatest challenges on this project were access, bearing in mind the city centre location of the building, and the fact that the ground and higher level floors remained occupied through the works. This required carefully planned operations, plant and materials movements as well as daily communication with the other tenants, which took the form of a tenant liaison meeting each morning. After initial strip out and structural alterations, the office space was fitted out with new partitions, carpet tiles, refurbed access flooring, mechanical and electrical installations. Works were completed to programme and to budget.
