Tibbenham House, Norwich
Tibbenham House, originally a pair of Victorian town houses, has in more recent times been used as office space. The buildings were further extending in the 1970’s with a concrete frame structure bolted onto the rear of the houses. FW Properties wished to convert the building, under permitted development, into 18no. stylish, city apartments. The works were procured as a two-stage tender under a JCT Design & Build basis. Having been selected as preferred contactor at stage 1, Pentaco worked closely with the client’s cost consultants, Real Consulting LLP, to achieve the client budget of £1.7M. The works included the demolition of some ancillary buildings attached to Tibbenham House, extensive remodelling and structural alterations internally, complete fit out of the shell to provide high end finished apartments including penthouse suite with bespoke balustrading, providing stunning views across the city of Norwich. Key issues included the logistics of moving materials around what was quite a restricted space internally and also attention to detail in achieving the required high specification finish whilst maintaining budget.
